	Wo 18 Okt / deur open @ 20:30u / € 7 WORM, Rotterdam http://www.wormweb.nl WORDSOUND NIGHT: SENSATIONAL (us) + SPECTRE (us) + KOUHEIKOYXEN (jp) subterranean hiphop Er wordt bij de vleet over underground hiphop gesproken maar als er één label is die dat predikaat in positieve zin verdient is het Wordsound. Muzikale integriteit staat hoog in het vaandel van dit label dat onderdak biedt aan bijzonder creatieve artiesten. Wordsound is de antithese van blingbling. Speciaal voor de freaks zullen we ook de Wordsound documentaire "The greatest thing you never heard" (74 min.) vertonen om 19:30 uur! WordSound is not a record label in the traditional sense. They are not concerned with hitting the charts, breaking groups, or making hits. WordSound is a guerilla think tank banded together for the purpose of continual creativity... WordSound was started to harness the energy of the underground - those creators whose radical approach to the word, sound, and vision has been suppressed by the domination of the corporate overlord. They are here to provide the people with a true alternative to the commercialized arena, and hijack institutions that choke free expression.... The name comes from the Rastafarian expression: "Wordsound have power," which acknowledges the spiritual energy emanating from the combination of words and sounds, lanquage and rhythm, text and ambience. WordSound is the word of sound - how the music speaks to us subliminally, and what it says...

	SPECTRE De schimmige figuur in het middelpunt van het Wordsound multiversum noemt zich Spectre. Hij is verantwoordelijk voor het creëren van het illbient subgenre met de compilatie "Crooklyn Dub Consortium: Certified Dope, Vol.1", dat tevens Wordsound als label en als broedplaats voor guerilla musici op de kaart zette. Zijn muziek houdt het midden tussen zware psychedelische dub en hiphop. SENSATIONAL Eens in de zoveel tijd worden we geconfronteerd met een artiest die alle debiliserende doctrines omtrent muziek grondig door het slijk haalt en z'n eigen ding doet. Sensational is zo iemand. Hij begon met het rhymen op platen van Stockhausen (!) en werd in 1995 opgepikt via Bill Laswell door Wordsound. Weldra kwam hij op de proppen met het zeer gewaagde debuut 'Loaded With Power', die in elkaar gezet is met een 4 sporen recorder, drum machine en koptelefoon als microfoon. De raadselachtige lo-fi knip en plak hiphop van Sensational heeft meer iets met de Residents dan met Poofter Daddy. KOUHEIKOYXEN Deze kleine grote man uit Osaka, Kouhei Matsunaga, begon zijn loopbaan met een bijdrage voor de beruchte "Electric Ladyland Vol. 5" (Mille Plateaux), schakelde daarna, om zijn land traditie getrouw te dienen, over op de 'noise', werkte samen met Merzbow (voor Tigerbeat6, CFET) en maakte in 5 uur tijd het album met Sensational. http://www.wordsound.com/ http://www.myspace.com/chunkobliss http://www.myspace.com/kouheikoyxen
